61 'Testimonies' From Alleged 'Witnesses':
This page contains the alleged "testimonies" of "witnesses" and ex-devotees of Sathya Sai Baba. For starters, several of these alleged "testimonies" are not from ex-devotees but from their friends or from people who have never seen Sathya Sai Baba.
No less than 29 of these alleged "testimonies" (which were not personally submitted to the ExBaba website) were cut-and-pasted from two discussion boards. Anti-Sai Activists searched for and found negative comments against Sathya Sai Baba on discussion boards and simply copied them onto their website.
A "testimony" is a firsthand authentication from a witness. A true "testimony" cannot come from an unnamed person or from comments made on an online discussion board. The ExBaba website is being deceptive in this regard and they know it!

On Hari Sampath's "Myth and Miracles" section, he related a story about an elderly German couple whose daughter and son-in-law escaped from a narrow truck collision in Germany. Sathya Sai Baba walked up to the German couple and told them that he saved their daughter and son-in-law from tragedy. Hari Sampath claimed he knew what really happened (without giving any names or testimonies to support his frenzied flights of imagination). Hari Sampath claimed that the daughter and son-in-law called their parents in Madras and that the message was passed to an unnamed member of the German group, who in turn, told an unnamed Seva Dal who gave the information to Sathya Sai Baba (despite the fact that seva dals do not have any closer access to Baba than do devotees). Then, Sampath claimed that Baba supposedly told the German couple that he saved their daughter and son-in-law from a narrow truck collision after another unnamed Seva Dal pointed the couple out to him. Where did Hari Sampath get all this information from? Why can't he provide us a scintilla of evidence to back up his claims?
Hari Sampath talked about a "miracle" picture that was supposedly taken from an airplane by a lady in Venezuela. The story goes that the plane ran into serious trouble and that when the woman prayed to Baba, she saw him in the clouds, took a picture and they landed safely. Hari Sampath discussed another story of bilocation attributed to Sathya Sai Baba, in which he failed to provide any names or verifiable facts to back up his conspriacy theory. Hari Sampath related the story of a taxi driver in Paris who was given 200 Francs by an unknown passenger to take him to an apartment complex. The taxi driver dropped off the passenger and waited an hour for the passenger to return. Finally, the taxi driver went into the apartment and saw a picture of Sathya Sai Baba and claimed that Baba was the passenger in his taxi! The taxi driver goes to India and Sathya Sai Baba confirmed the story by asking the man, in French, for his 100 Francs. Hari Sampath claimed he knew what really happened and said that the unknown passenger gave the taxi driver 200 Francs while he went up to the apartment complex for bhajan. After bhajan, another unnamed person offered the unknown passenger a ride home and he forgot his 100 Francs (one way fare). After an hour, the taxi driver went into the apartment and said he is looking for the unknown passenger who was carrying a picture of Sathya Sai Baba (not that the passenger was Baba). According to Hari Sampath, despite the unnamed taxi driver saying this, apparently no one cared to confirm his story and they just immediately began saying that Baba appeared to the taxi driver. Then (despite this fact) the Sai devotees took the taxi driver (who somehow agreed, knowing that all the devotees were lying about him seeing Baba) to India and the story was related to unnamed devotees who informed Baba about the miracle story. Furthermore, Sampath claimed that Baba was taught by unnamed students how to say, "Where is my 100 Francs" in French! Does any of this sound the least bit credible? Hari Sampath wants it both ways. He criticizes miracle stories that cannot be confirmed, yet goes about relating unconfirmable "facts" himself about what he thought really happened. This is hypocritical and laughable. I simply can't understand how anyone can accept anything Hari Sampath says at face value.

Dennis Hanisch reasoned that if Sathya Sai Baba was really God, nothing bad should be happening in the world. Most of the stories and myths that talk about God/Avatars rooting out evil, lay emphasis on extreme violence used by God/Avatars to rid the world of evil. Rama slaughtered millions of demons. Krsna oversaw a war that killed millions of people. In the Old Testament, we are told of mass genocide dictated by God to remove evil or punish evil people. We are also told how God flooded the world, killing innumerable babies, children, elderly people and animals in an attempt to rid the world of wickedness. An world-wide flood whose success resulted in Sodom and Gomorrah several hundreds years later. Add free will to the picture and things are not clear cut as Dennis Hanisch would have us believe. Many people believe Jesus is God. Why did evil increase in the world during and after Jesus' lifetime?
If Sathya Sai Baba is not God, then all these evils and natural disasters are shifted to the real God, whomeoever one might believe that is.
Is Dennis Hanisch willing to credit Sathya Sai Baba with the positive things that have happened during his lifetime? Surely, if Baba is to blame for all of the negative things that have happened in his lifetime, then Baba is also responsible for the positive things that have happened in his lifetime. The smallpox cure, polio cure, discovery of penicillin, advances in heathcare, surgery and treatment of illnesses are enough to counter all the negative things Dennis Hanisch cited. I am sure if Dennis was offered a choice of living in the world of today, as opposed to the world 80 years ago, he would choose the present day.

Glen Meloy wrote this account for Sharon Purcell. Sharon Pucell stated she believed that Sathya Sai Baba is a demon from the astral world. She also believed that because she was in labor for 46 hours, Baba was not there to help her. Sharon Pucell said that her son, Sathya, recalled "vividly having to jump out of the way when they were sweeping the blood from the temple later that morning". Supposedly, Honig's group of boys were allowed to be on the veranda the morning after the police shootings in 1993. That anyone would have been allowed on the verandah while they were cleaning up the blood from that fateful night sounds highly improbable. Despite some of these very strange claims, I feel Sharon honestly believes what she said, albeit, via Glen Meloy. It is strange that Sharon Pucell did not write her own account and had Glen Meloy post it for her. Why Glen Meloy had to tell Sharon's story for her is not really explained. Glen says Sharon did not have a computer. But she does not need a computer to type or write out her account.

Comment: This is a letter from Jose Santiago. He praised the ever-so-inaccurate ExBaba website as being "accurate". I take issue with the veracity of that statement. Jose Santiago also talked about the death of three "British Devotees" who committed suicide.
Andrew Richardson was not a devotee (and no Sai Center ever heard of him before). He was a seriously mentally-disturbed individual who lept to his death in Bangalore from the eighth floor of the State Bank of Mysore building, on K.G. Road (I was in India when this event happened). The Times of India, 20-9-1996, stated:
"The foreigner left a note in which he described, though incoherently, about his misery that drove him to suicide. 'I was confused, I came to India in search of peace , but could not find it', he has said. He apparently visited the Sai Ashram earlier and had seen Sai Baba, as it was mentioned in his suicide note. But the police have not confirmed whether it refers to the one in Whitefield here in Bangalore or the one in Puttaparthi. Mr. Sood said the letter was barely legible, but stated that he was in deep depression. The police have contacted the British High Commission to trace Richardson´s kin and send the body back to England."
The second British person who killed himself was Michael Pender, a 23 year old student who was HIV infected. He was known to be severely and chronically depressed and he claimed he was sexually abused by Sathya Sai Baba (despite Baba knowing he was HIV infected). This would mean, of course, that Baba was engaging in sexual acts with a person who was known to be HIV infected. This simply does not seem plausible. He was obviously angry at not being cured and in a deep depression. He was found dead in a hostel for homeless in Highbury, London.
Aran Edwards, aged 37, was the third British person who committed suicide by hanging himself from a staircase in his home. Aran Edwards had never been to see Sathya Sai Baba. David Bailey said of Aran at: http://www.saiguru.net/english/media/010827soughtpeace.htm:
"He was sort of persuaded that Sai Baba looked after him, did everything for him and that he should write to Sai Baba with his problems". David Bailey described Aran Edwards as follows, "He was quite an ill person, mentally unstable and needed orthodox help. In the end, he wrote a couple of dozen or more letters to Sai Baba. The group had told him this was what to do". And as if this wasn't enough, David Bailey further states, "He used to ring me from phone boxes pleading with me. There were 35 phone calls, I suppose . . . he was absolutely desperate that I should talk to Sai Baba for him because he was in such a state and had written all these letters which he had sent out and hadn't had a reply. Could I please help because I was Sai Baba's right-hand man? At the end I said, ‘Wake up. He doesn't even read these letters'. He was so distraught about the situation, he decided to commit suicide."
Can you imagine crushing the hopes of someone so desperate by telling him something so cruel? David Bailey knew Aran was an ill person who was mentally unstable, yet David Bailey crushed Aran's hopes by first persuading him to write letters to Sathya Sai Baba. After persuading him to do this, David Bailey told Aran that Baba did not read letters, including his! This is, in and of itself, disgusting and reprehensible. In that distraught state, Aran killed himself. Yet no one faults David Bailey and the pathetic way he dealt with poor Aran.
In all three cases, all suffered from severe depression and chronic mental issues. It certainly appeared they all would have killed themselves even if Baba was not in the picture. So this is not as clear cut as Jose Santiago would have us believe. There are some Christians who commit suicide. Do we blame Jesus?
Jose Santiago also claimed that Sathya Sai Baba praised the caste system. However, if one reads the actual discourse that Santiago referenced, one would see that Sathya Sai Baba was not praising the current caste system and its many problems. Even western countries have a type of "caste system" with the Royalty, Aristocrats, the upper class, the middle class and the lower class.
Jose Santiago also whined about how he wanted a furnished room with a private bathroom in the Ashram and how he wanted to pay next to nothing for it as well! The ashram charges very little to foreigners who stay in sheds or rooms that are shared with 4 other people. In the sheds, it's just like camping out. You have a mosquito net, a cotton-stuffed mattress and you share the bathroom area (which has about 15 private toilets and an area for shaving and washing hands, etc.). One pays about 10-15 rupees for staying in the shed. About a quarter a day! The shared rooms are about 40-50 rupees (about a dollar) per day. I do not know of any other ashram that provides a furnished bedroom with a private bathroom for less than 300 rupees a day. Yet this is exactly what Jose Santiago wanted. He accused Sathya Sai Baba of spending too much money on his spiritual museum when he could have used that money for furnishing rooms with private bathrooms and charging cheap rates for otherwise ungrateful patrons.
Jose Santiago also said, "Sai gives interviews to foreigners and Westerners 90 percent of the times". Sathya Sai Baba gives many interviews to Indians. When I had my interview in 1988, I was the only non-Indian present, out of a group of about 15 people. Sathya Sai Baba said that he gives interviews to foreigners because they travel great distances, spending large amounts of money and enduring cultural and physical discomforts to see him. Jose Santiago said that this is not true because it is harder for Indians. Although it is true that poor Indians must endure financial burdens to see Baba, they do not have to endure the cultural shock and the physical stresses and discomforts that Westerners inevitably face. I have yet to meet any foreigner, who has come back from India, without having heard of stories of severe dysentery or physical exhaustion from the heat. And I don't care what Jose Santiago said. $1200-$1600 for a plane ticket is a financial burden that simply is not comparable to what Indians have to pay to get to Baba's ashram.

In Samsioe's past writing against Sathya Sai Baba, she even had the audacity to suggest (with no proof whatsoever) that Baba's mother murdered 4 baby daughters before Baba was born (Reference).
