Jed Geyerhahn’s accounts are perhaps the most inconsistent, contradictory and embellished of all accounts made against Sathya Sai Baba by any alleged “victim”. It is important to remember that Jed Geyerhahn was never “fondled” by Sai Baba. Rather, he claimed he received non-sexual “oilings” and/or vibuthi applications.

Jed Geyerhahn’s Contradictory And Changing Accounts:

Jed Geyerhahn’s First Account:

Jed Geyerhahn’s first account about his alleged abuse was relayed in a letter to David C. Lane, which was published on The Neural Surfer in May 1997 (Ref):

This brings me to my very questionable experiences with Sai Baba. On my second trip to Sai Baba I had four interviews. Each time I saw Baba, his hand would gradually make more prominant connections to my groin. The first interview was a slight swipe, the second a definite touch and the third time he grabbed me and with a very stern face looked me directly in the eye and said “you are very weak!” Needless to say, he scared and embarassed me. I was guilt ridden to have sexual passion, though I was a healthy 16 year old boy, a testosterone machine. I was not going to talk to anyone about the experience. In the final interview he asked me to take my pants down. I was totally confused, so he took them down for me. He then made vibhutti and rubbed it on my genitals. On my third trip, he did the same thing, but rubbed oil on my genitals. Fortunately, I was never taken advantage of any worse, but I was humiliated when I realised his true intentions, and I felt I had really lost an innocence that I would have cherished keeping.

Therefore, Jed Geyerhahn specifically claimed in his First Account:

On his second trip, he had four interviews.
On his second trip, he was 16 years old.
In his first interview, his groin was given a “slight swipe” (presumably done in private and not in front of his aunt Elizabeth Elwell, who was present with him in the interview).
In his second interview, his groin was given a “definite touch” (presumably done in private and not in front of his aunt Elizabeth Elwell, who was present with him in the interview).
In his third interview, his groin was “grabbed” (presumably done in private and not in front of his aunt Elizabeth Elwell, who was present with him in the interview).
In the fourth interview, Baba allegedly took down his pants and rubbed vibuthi on his genitals (presumably done in private and not in front of his aunt Elizabeth Elwell, who was present with him in the interview).
On his third trip, Baba allegedly rubbed oil on his genitals.
Besides receiving a vibuti and oil treatment, claimed he was “not taken advantage of any worse”.

Jed Geyerhahn’s Second Account:

Jed Geyerhahn’s second account was told on a BBC Radio Interview on November 19th 2000 (Ref):

Jed Geyerhan from Massachusetts in the United States was close to his 16th birthday when he first met Sai Baba a few years ago. Jed had travelled with his aunt to the ashram in Puttaparthi in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh...On his first visit to the ashram, Jed Geyerhan had several interviews with Sai Baba in the company of his aunt. At the third, he was invited into a private room, alone. ‘He actually grabbed my groin direct through my clothes and in that interview he asked me to take my pants down and he materialised this grey ash called vibhuti and rubbed the vibhuti on the side of my groin.’ Two years later he went back and was granted a further interview. ‘But looking for some sort of explanation as to what these sexual experiences were. He asked me what I wanted and I said I want your love and he took it completely wrong and sort of just peculiarly advanced his body towards me and said ‘you know I’m all yours, take me.’ ah .. you know ‘take me’ but not .. ah .. sort of in any sort of spiritual way but looking at me in a flirtatious way.’ With Jed it went no further than that.

Therefore, Jed Geyerhahn specifically claimed in his Second Account:

On his first trip, he received 3 interviews.
Was close to his 16th birthday.
In all three interviews, his aunt Elizabeth Elwell was present.
No mention was made to his first interview.
No mention was made to his second interview.
In his third interview, he allegedly had a private audience with Sai Baba.
In his private audience with Sai Baba, the guru allegedly “grabbed” his groin and asked him to take down his pants.
In his private audience with Sai Baba, the guru allegedly rubbed vibuthi on the side of his groin.
Two years later (second trip) he went back to Sai Baba’s ashram and was given another interview. No mention was made to any other type of touching.

Jed Geyerhahn’s Third Account:

Jed Geyerhahn’s third account was told on the “Seduced” documentary on January 30th 2002 (Ref):

In 1989 when I was 15 years old I went to India for three weeks. And on that trip I had four interviews. And in the third interview he actually asked me to untie my pants. And he forcibly pulled my pants down and with his bare hand grabbed my groin and rubbed some oil on the side of my scrotum. And I went again on the following year, and on that trip when I was 16 years old, SB called me again for a private interview. At that point I was even actually more uncomfortable because it seemed like this had already taken place, there is no reason why it needed to take place again. But he asked me to take my pants down. I did and he went on and produced an oily substance and rubbed it on the side of my scrotum.

Therefore, Jed Geyerhahn specifically claimed in his Third Account:

In 1989, he went to India for 3 weeks and had four interviews.

Why did Jed Geyerhahn leave Sai Baba?

Strangely enough, Jed Geyerhahn did not leave Sai Baba because of the alleged oilings and/or vibuthi applications. He left Sai Baba because his life as a devotee was unfulfilling (enforcing the argument that Geyerhahn did not originally interpret his alleged experiences to be inappropriate). As a matter of fact, Jed Geyerhan said:

I started to question Sai Baba during college largely because my life as a devotee was unfulfilling, and the aspects of my life that were fulfilling, had little to do with being a devotee. I realised that being a devotee of Sai Baba made me feel like I was someone extra special, especially with all the attention from other devotees and Sai Baba himself. The problem was, I was not happy being so special, and it became clear to me that being so special allowed me to hide from the real issues in life that were making me unhappy. So I went about making the changes in my life that made me feel a whole lot better, even though it meant that I had to stop following Sai Baba’s teachings and follow my own reasoning, and, to an extent, the promptings of our western culture. These things included having a girlfriend, whom I loved dearly, enjoying food, talking to people regularly, and allowing myself to joke and have fun and not be a super spiritual advanced soul that devotees and Sai Baba encouraged me to be. These simple pleasures in life made me happy, and they are precisely the pleasures, i.e. the fulfilling of desires, Sai Baba wants us to starve. I tried, but I was miserable, and I couldn’t take it any longer. I could no longer believe that life was all illusion, because it meant that love wasn’t real, that the good that I found in the world wasn’t real. If that was the case, I didn’t want to live any more.

Therefore...:

Jed Geyerhahn completely contradicted himself in all three of his accounts. Which version are we to believe and why?

Jed Geyerhahn Embellished His Original Story:

In all three of Jed Geyerhahn’s accounts, he never mentioned one word about Sai Baba “breathing very heavily” as he pulled him close to “hug and then kiss him”. However, that is exactly what Jed Geyerhan told Bon Giovanni (Ref). Jed Geyerhan specifically said (after relating his alleged oiling experience), “Fortunately, I was never taken advantage of any worse” (Ref). If Jed Geyerhahn was “never taken advantage of any worse”, why did he change his story and embellish it with new information that he failed to divulge in his original testimonies?

The fact of the matter remains that Jed Geyerhahn did not originally interpret Sai Baba’s alleged actions to be sexual whatsoever. Only after reading about other’s allegations, he changed his mind and felt he was molested although Sai Baba never attempted to arouse him (nor was he aroused).
