Dear Editor, Hindustan Times, Hyderabad, India:

Brian O'Leary, who you wrote about yesterday, is a key figure in the grass
roots movement in the United States right now organizing to "draft" US
Congressman Dennis Kucinich to run for President of the United States in
2004. Congressman Kucinich and all of our friends here in America hope to
follow Dr. O'Leary's journey in India by reading your fine publication on
the web at http://www.hindustantimes.com.

We are so grateful to Congressman Kucinich and Brian O'Leary for their work
on US Law and global treaty to ban the weaponization of space and redirect
science and technology funding to peaceful purposes.

RE: An introduction, Brian O'Leary, "Re-Inheriting the Earth"

Dear Under Secretary General Tharoor:

I appreciated so very much reading your December 3, 2002,
International Herald Tribune article about Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

I located your contact information on the internet. May I please
introduce for your kindest effective consideration the work of
Dr. Brian O'Leary, his new futurists' manifesto, "Re-Inheriting
the Earth, Awakening to Sustainable Solutions and Greater
Truths," a copy of which new book he is sending on its way
to you at your editorial office for your information.

Dr. O'Leary became the NASA Mars Mission Scientist-Astronaut
after earning his PhD in Astronomy at UC Berkeley. When this project was
cancelled he became a teacher of physics and astonomy at various top level
universities over a period of years during which he was also science and
energy policy advisor and speechwriter on such issues for four US
Presidential candidates starting with Morris Udall and ending with Jesse
Jackson. His research over the past decades on the science-mind-spirit
relationship led to his recent books, "Exploring Inner and Outer Space,"
"The Second Coming of Science," and "Miracle in the Void," and the lectures
that he offers from them worldwide. I would characterize their theme as an
intelligent exploration of "the 'spiritual certainty principle' of the
absolute nature of truth" vs "the 'scientific uncertainty principle'" and
how the human mind influences results through faith and belief in the values
of each.

"Re-Inheriting the Earth" represents a unique blending of global
environmentalism with a new science-spirituality yoga in
the effort to find effective solutions. Most such efforts are
niched in one category or the other, but this one combines them.

Brian will be leaving soon to visit India to see Her leading new energy
scientist, Paramahamsa Tewari, and Her leading spiritual teacher to
the world, our Baba. He will be making an effort to visit Baba for the
fourth time. The previous three were all successful at a personal level.

Tewari's work needs wider global exposure to further it and other
scientific developments portending the end of nuclear and fossil fuels.

This is an important message for the whole world, a message of
peace needed in these times, as supported by what the New York
Times article on Sai Baba of December 1, 2002, quotes the
President of India as the Baba's message to him:

"...he said he had discussed with the swami how to achieve
an educational system that combined values with science.
"When they are fused, you get an enlightened citizen," said
President Kalam...the Parliament elected him in July.

"Coming from a Muslim background, the president is a rarity
among national politicians in a country that is four-fifths Hindu."

Paramahamsa Tewari has a powerful bit of related timely information,
in his book, "Spiritual Foundations," in Chapter 17, Sai Avatar:

"It was the most pleasant surprise when I heard that Sathya Sai Baba in a
personal interview with a Senior Scientist from the USA had said, 'I know
Tewari.' [1]

"The advent of the Sai Incarnation was predicted ('Shri Sathya Sai Baba and
the Future of Mankind', Satya Pal Rahela, Sai Age Publications, 'Sai Kripa',
New Delhi-110 004) by the Sage Shuka in his 5000 year old palm leaf
manuscript, and also by Prophet Mohammed as per an ancient Arabic book
'Mehdi Moud' (Vol. 13 of the book 'Ocean of Light'). The physical features
of the Sai Baba Incarnation, His teachings on religions, creation of small
gifts for the devotees, His span of life, etc., are clearly predicted by the
Prophet. The similarity of these predictions with Sathya Sai Baba leave no
doubt in Sathya Sai Incarnation of today."

I heard in a film by Richard Bock, about Sai Baba and mutual religious
prophecy fulfillment theme, that Swami said that the Moslems will be the
last to accept His message. The President of India's meeting with Baba may
signal that this has now happened and so it's up to those of Islam who
understand to make this known to the public for the cause of global peace
now.

I pray you consider how you might help make best use of this information.

At your service in all ways, sincerely,

US astronaut to spread Sai Baba's message for global peace

web: http://web1.mtnl.net.in/~sairam

Press Trust of India

Hyderabad, January 19

A former US astronaut has embarked on a mission to bring about world
peace by spreading the message of India's holy man Satya Sai Baba whom
the New York Times called "a friend in India to all the world".

Brain O'Leary, a physicist and former science and energy policy
advisor to four US presidential candidates, is arriving in India on
Friday to meet with Sai Baba to get his advice on how to bring about
peace, according to sources close to the astronaut.

O'Leary will also meet "free energy technology" scientist, Paramahamsa
Tewari of Karwar, former head of the Kaiga atomic station, whose
theory of extracting energy from space has found followers abroad, the
sources said.

Describing Baba as "the greatest example of inter-faith spiritual
unity since Buddha," the sources said that by spreading his "message
of truth, peace, love, righteousness, and nonviolence" the US
astronaut hopes that global peace will "break out in mere days from
across the US, India, Pakistan, to Iraq."

Dear David,

We'll be leaving for India on Jan. 24 and will be
traveling in southern India during the second week of
Feb., visiting with Tewari (the free energy man) and
possibly Sai Baba in Puttaparti or Bangalore. Is
there anything I need to know before going? Do you
have any direct contacts with the Sai Baba people to
gain an interview? So far I'm three for three during
the 1990s in doing so, but it required a spontaneous
selection from the masses at Darshans.

Today my new book is going out to you. It looks
great, well worth the aggravation and long wait.

Regarding Dennis Kucinich, you might know that at the
event in Feb. last year in Malibu, Carol Rosin, Danny
Sheehan, Barbara Hubbard and I were all talking up the
idea of drafting him. Given that those declared
candidates haven't spoken out against the war
(Lieberman, Kerry and Gephart all voted for the war,
yuk), there is good reason to present Kucinich as a
candidate. I'd sure support him, and it's best to
coordinate closely with Carol et al.

As we'll be gone for a month, could you keep your
emails to me down to a minimum or keep me off your
list? I don't want my in-box to get overstuffed as
happened before.

Peace, Brian

Subject: Dennis Kucinich please come soon, Cesar Chavez La Paz Community,
memorial ceremony, prayer for America and Global Peace Now!
Date: Sunday, January 19, 2003 1:51 PM

My Dear Spiritual Brother Dennis,

I'm working with Rudy Delgado at the La Paz Community of Cesar Chavez in
Keene, CA, about 8-miles from where I live, mountain retreat headquarters of
United Farm Workers, Cesar E. Chavez Foundation, et al, where they have
kindly hosted events for us when the Global Peace Walk came through our area
on its way across country in 1995 and 2000. http://www.ufw.org
http://www.globalpeacenow.org

The world famous Tehachapi Loop is near Keene, the only place in
the world where a train track has to go in a complete 360 degree circle
in order to climb the steep elevation gradient. People come from all
over the world, train buffs, come to Tehachapi to see and photograph
this loop but no passenger trains can use the busy Union Pacfic freight
route presently. The approximately 40 freight trains per day on this
busiest freight train line in the nation passes by/through the La Paz
Community facilities and within half a stone's throw from San Cesar's
gravesite there which is the centerpiece of a memorial garden
under construction now expected to be finished around the first of
April according to Rudy on the phone a few days ago.

Even in spite of the busy-ness of the construction activities now, Rudy was
receptive to the idea of a prayer ceremony soon in an appropriate area at
La Paz as a "virtual ribbon cutting ceremony" for the Global Peace Train
Project and the naming of its inaugural route, the Tehachapi Loop Peace
Train, as the "Global Peace Train Inaugural Cesar Chavez La Paz Route."

This got me to thinking about Cesar Chavez and what he means to me as an
example of someone who applied his spiritual understanding so strongly
through his pure-hearted religious practice of nonviolence, compassion,
understanding, and public demonstration of faith in the good of humankind.
Seems to me that in addition he should be highly esteemed by his Church and
its believers. By remembering and knowing him well, faith in his memory may
indeed inspire the miracle of global peace, prosperity, and justice among
all of the human family. Such a successful result of his and our efforts,
and of our faith in these principles, would indeed be a miracle qualifying
sainthood, the miracle of San Cesar, global peace now.

So I wonder if you would join me on your schedule at your earliest
convenience to visit La Paz and share this spiritual community experience.
I will discuss this with Rudy as the idea develops and see what we can do.
The sooner the better because The Message of Peace may propagate globally
rapidly therefrom. Here is contact info for your direct communications.

Dennis Kucinich, The Plain Dealer announcement of January 12th

The Plain Dealer (Cleveland, Ohio)

President Dennis? Who knows?

01/12/03

Tom Diemer
Plain Dealer Bureau

Washington- His name doesn't show up on the growing "short list" of
Democratic hopefuls, but political allies of Rep. Dennis Kucinich think he
is seriously considering a bid for his party's 2004 presidential nomination.

The Cleveland Democrat, elected in November to his fourth term in the U.S.
House, remains coy about his prospects.

"The issues that I have been de- bating in Con gress, which are the major
issues that I talk about in Cleveland, are resonating with people across the
country," he said last week. "As a result, I am hear ing from thou sands of
people from East Coast to West Coast, talking to me about running. I am
listening.

"It is a great honor . . . to even be considered."

An announcement of a Kucinich candidacy is not imminent but could come this
winter or in the early spring. In the meantime, the field for what some call
an "invisible primary" is expanding almost weekly. The challenge of merely
lifting off is daunting for anyone, much less a U.S. House member who is not
widely known nationally outside the "progressive" - read "liberal" - wing of
politics.

Kucinich has yet to demonstrate he can raise enough money to sustain a
coast-to-coast campaign, or expand his base beyond the peace activists,
environmentalists and free-trade critics he addresses in national speaking
appearances.

So, what makes Dennis Kucinich run?

He has traveled to dozens of American cities, preaching - one speech was
titled a "Prayer for America" - against war in Iraq and criticizing
Republican economic policies.

Ohio State University political scientist Paul Beck said long shots often
enter campaigns under the guise of using a national platform to draw
attention to their issues. For Kucinich, that would include a fight against
tax cuts and free-trade deals.

"In many ways it serves the candidate more than the issues," Beck said. "It
is a way for the candidate to become known over time, to build name
recognition and visibility for a subsequent campaign. It also helps them
have influence in their own party."

However, Beck said that, in the end, when such a candidacy collapses, he
doubts much has been accomplished in the way of "educating voters." Voters
in presidential campaigns, he said, are "usually looking for capable
leaders," not causes.

Support from labor

But Steve Rosenthal, political director of the AFL-CIO, said Kucinich could
force other Democrats to respond to issues important to the labor movement -
workers' rights and jobs lost to free trade, for instance.

"He is a guy who is not afraid to speak up and fight for what he believes
in. He wins just by putting his issues - our issues - front and center,"
Rosenthal said. "In terms of winnability, it is a steep, steep uphill
fight."

Ralph Nader, who appeals to economic populists in much the same way as
Kucinich, thinks the former Cleveland mayor should jump into the race.

"There needs to be a clearly progressive candidate in the primaries," Nader
said recently when asked about Kucinich. "I hope he does."

Nader stopped short of endorsing Kucinich, since he is uncertain about his
own plans. He ran for president as the candidate of the Green Party in 2000.

But Nader is a Kucinich fan - part of Kucinich's circle of famous friends,
which includes columnist Arianna Huffington and Warren Beatty, the actor who
thought about running for president himself in 2000.

An Internet site, www.draftkucinich.com, is promoting him, calling attention
in a Wednesday posting to a mention of his possible candidacy on ABC's
political Web site, The Note, and in a Washington Post online column.

"Kucinich must be urged to run," proclaims the Draft Kucinich site, which is
operated by a man who dabbles in politics but has said he has no ties to
Kucinich. "Democrats, Independents, Greens, people are writing to voice
their support."

While Kucinich contemplates a step that could bring him fame or make him
look foolish, others are jumping in.

Sens. John Kerry of Massachusetts and John Edwards of North Carolina,
Missouri Rep. Richard Gephardt and Vermont Gov. Howard Dean have formed
"exploratory" committees signaling their intentions to run. Sen. Joe
Lieberman of Connecticut is expected to join the fray on Monday, and the
Rev. Al Sharpton of New York has said he will get in later this month.
Florida Sen. Bob Graham and former Colorado Sen. Gary Hart, who ran in 1984
and 1988, are said to be considering bids.

Timing important

While this incipient campaign holds little interest for many voters, the
would-be candidates already are jousting for campaign money and signing up
seasoned political operatives. He who hesitates loses out on veteran staff
and financial commitments.

Kucinich, who has run outside his Cleveland base only once - a failed bid
for Ohio secretary of state in a Democratic primary - raised $508,712 for
his 2002 re-election, including more than $195,000 from labor unions. He had
$48,697 in his campaign treasury going into the new year.

To run a viable presidential race, a candidate has "to raise a million bucks
a week," estimated Cleveland Heights lawyer Glenn Billington, who worked in
past campaigns for Hart and former New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley.

Billington, who admires Kucinich for his work in Congress, questions whether
the lawmaker has the organizing skills or money-raising ability for such a
mammoth effort.

"We are in the year that counts. You saw what happened with Tom Daschle," he
said, referring to the Senate leader who last week decided to bypass the
presidential contest. "You have to be out there. It is full time."
