MAJOR UPDATE - July 17th 2007: Indirect And Erroneous Reference To Sathya Sai Baba Removed From US State Department Website: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

Through an unremitting e-bombing campaign, Anti-Sai Activists were able to con the US State Department into issuing an indirect warning against Sathya Sai Baba on their Official Department website (which never mentioned Sathya Sai Baba by name). Ex-Devotees even boasted on accomplishing the warning on their own websites.

As of July 17th 2007, the US State Department REMOVED all indirect references to Sathya Sai Baba from their Official website (Reference). Just as ex-devotees were able to con Unesco with their propaganda, they were able to do the same with the US State Department. Needless to say, Unesco later expressed regret and removed their press release from their website. The same now holds true with the US State Department.

The truth is finally prevailing and the gutter tactics and smear campaigns waged by Ex-Devotees are finally reaching the ears of high ranking individuals and relevant organizations all around the world.

U.S. Department of State - Bureau of Consular Affairs: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

The U.S. Department of State (Bureau of Consular Affairs) unequivically stated the following on their official website:

If you are the victim of a crime while overseas, in addition to reporting to local police, please contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate for assistance. The Embassy/Consulate staff can, for example, assist you to find appropriate medical care, contact family members or friends and explain how funds could be transferred. Although the investigation and prosecution of the crime is solely the responsibility of local authorities, consular officers can help you to understand the local criminal justice process and to find an attorney if needed. Victims of a crime in India, including loss or theft of a passport, should obtain a copy of the police report (called an ‘FIR’ or ‘First Information Report’) from local police at the time of reporting the incident. A copy of this report is helpful for insurance purposes in replacing lost valuables, and is required by the Indian Government in order to obtain an exit visa to leave India in the event of a lost or stolen passport. Local authorities generally are unable to take any meaningful action without the filing of a police report. ”

Needless to say, no alleged victim ever filed an official and first-hand complaint with the police or the Embassy in India. To Date: No alleged victim has ever been able to produce a copy of a FIR (police report) or any other documentation to support their allegations against Sai Baba. Also See:

Facts About The U.S. Department of State Bureau Of Consular Affairs And Their Consular Information Sheet For India: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

Since late 2002, the US Consular Information Sheet for India made an indirect reference to Sathya Sai Baba with the following comments:

"U.S. citizens should be aware that there have been unconfirmed reports of inappropriate sexual behavior by a prominent local religious leader at an ashram or religious retreat located in Andhra Pradesh. Most of the reports indicate that the subjects of these approaches have been young male devotees, including a number of U.S. citizens."

Anti-Sai Activists boasted (on their own Anti-Sai websites) that they accomplished the US State Department advisory by waging an unremitting "e-bombing" campaign in which various organizations were flooded with email complaints. To date, Sathya Sai Baba has never (ever) been charged with any crime, sexual or otherwise. Not even one alleged victim has even tried to file a first-hand complaint against Sathya Sai Baba with the police, Indian Consulate, Indian Embassy or a court of law in India.

Not only were ex-devotees behind the US Travel Advisory, they were also behind an Australian Travel Advisory, which states:

"Australians should be aware of persistent allegations of sexual misconduct made against certain prominent cults and their leaders in India and reported in the media." (Reference).

Although this advisory is entirely vague (and does not mention Sai Baba, his ashram or even the state he resides in), Anti-Sai Activists praised Barry Pittard (another ex-devotee) and had the audacity to boast:

"Thanks to the efforts Barry Pittard, who has been persistent with the Australian Government in pointing out the dangers involved in visiting the ashram of Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, in the State of Andhra Pradesh."
Ref: http://www.saiguru.net/english/news/030325tvladvaust.htm

Anti-Sai Activists also went to great efforts to get the British Embassy to issue a travel warning against Sathya Sai Baba, but failed. The following is a list of emails from Glen Meloy in which he admitted that ex-devotees were responsible the US State Department Warning.

An Attempt To Get The British Embassy To Issue A Travel Warning: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

The following email was Glen Meloy's first attempt to get Stephen Bailey (the British Vice Consul) to issue a warning against Sathya Sai Baba:

Urgent Action Requested at: http://home.hetnet.nl/~ex-baba/engels/letters/urgent.html

Subject: Travel Warning Status for visitors to Ashrams of Sathya Sai Baba in Whitefield and Puttaparthi.

BRITISH DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSION, CHENNAI
Mr Stephen Bailey, Vice Consul
British Deputy High Commission, 24 Anderson Road, Chennai 600 006.

Dear Vice Consul Bailey,

I am inquiring on behalf of unsuspecting British Nationals living in the USA who are planning to visit the ashrams of Sathya Sai Baba in Whitefield and Puttaparthi and who are unaware of the many sexual abuse allegations involving innocent boys and young men when they are left alone in the interview room with Sathya Sai Baba.

Most of these young males have been taught from the time they were born that Sai Baba is God Almighty and they are being enticed by the various centers in the USA and U.K.to travel to India in hopes of securing the coveted private interview so they can converse directly with God.

I am sure you must know there is an official travel warning posted by the US State Department and that it has been proposed on the floor of the House of Commons to issue a similar warning.

What is the current status and are there any other options available to warn British Nationals both in the US and U.K about these serious criminal allegations?

There has been an ongoing conspiracy amongst all the leadership of the International Sai Organization to cover- up these allegations for over 30 years. All the centers refuse to talk about or inform the membership which comprises millions of devotees from almost every country in the world

I would like to share extensive media accounts and other information with the appropriate officials who can take action to at least warn travelers of these well documented cases of sexual abuse.

Thanking you in advance for your help in this matter which caused UNESCO Headquarters in France and Flinder's University in Australia to cancel their sponsorship of a special Teacher's conference that was scheduled to be held in Puttaparthi. This is a matter of public record and we also know that Prime Minister Blair, himself is very much aware of these allegations and actually cancelled a proposed recent meeting with this spiritual fraud god.

In spite of all the political implications and conflict of interests in the Supreme Court of India and their Prime Minister Vajpayee, surely the welfare of all these innocent children must take the highest priority.

It's long overdue for the U.K and other Nations to finally speak out on these atrocities being perpetrated on young males by the richest and most influential Spiritual figure in India who cloaks himself in goodness, but in actuality is a vile evil person who abuses children.

Please take the time to help us get at the truth and at least warn all these unsuspecting travelers. Your courage in doing so will set an example for the rest of the Commonwealth and other countries of the world.

Thank you for your consideration and I await your informed reply,

Glen Meloy

British Consular Office Refused To Issue A Travel Warning: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

The email that Glen Meloy sent to Stephen Bailey was forwarded to the Consular Office in Chennai and S. Revathi and Mrs. R. Ramanujam refused to issue a warning because they never received any complaints against Sathya Sai Baba or the Sai Organization and no police investigations were underway:

Dear Mr Meloy

Thank you for your e-mail of 2 May 2002 addressed to Stephen Bailey which has been passed to me for reply.

We have not received any complaints against the Sai Baba organisation from British visitors, and as far as we can establish, no police investigations are currently underway. This remains a matter for the Indian authorities to investigate. In the light of this, it would be inappropriate to include references to these allegations in our travel advice.

Group Thuggery Tactics Confirmed: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

Glen Meloy then encouraged his coterie of Anti-Sai Activists to write and complain to (i.e., spam) Mrs. Ramanujam with complaints. Notice the caption, "URGENT ACTION REQUESTED!!!" on the following email. Glen Meloy also said:

"Together, we can make a difference...and until we have travel warnings posted in every country, the Government of India and the offcials of the Sai Organization are going to continue covering up these abuses...If we can get the U.K. to issue a strong travel warning, it will have a huge influence to induce other countries to do the same."

These statements prove that former followers were involved in unremitting, behind-the-scenes attempts to get travel warnings issued against Sathya Sai Baba in various countries and relied on group thuggery tactics to push their Anti-Sai smear campaigns:

URGENT ACTION REQUESTED!!!

Dear Friends,

As you can see from the correspondence below, I have received a reply to my recent letter requesting a travel warning to the:

BRITISH DEPUTY HIGH COMMISSION, CHENNAI
Mr Stephen Bailey, Vice Consul
British Deputy High Commission, 24 Anderson Road, Chennai 600 006.

Please post on all web sites and distribute my original letter and the subsequent reply from the consular officer, Mrs. R. Ramanujam and copy to Vice Counsul Bailey and request that all concerned British Nationals and their friends around the world contact Mrs. Ramanujam and let her know in great detail that there are indeed complaints against the Sai Baba Organization and carefully explain why we need a travel warning issued by every country that allows their unsuspecting citizens to be placed in harm's way when they visit the ashrams (particularly Puttaparthi) of Sai Baba.

Mrs. Ramanujam's Email address is:

Revathi.Ramanujam@fco.gov.uk

Vice Consul Bailey's E mail address is:

bdhcchen@vsnl.com

Together, we can make a difference...and until we have travel warnings posted in every country, the Government of India and the offcials of the Sai Organization are going to continue covering up these abuses against innocent young males.

If we can get the U.K. to issue a strong travel warning, it will have a huge influence to induce other countries to do the same.

Thank you for your participation in writing to Mrs. Ramanujam and Vice Consul Bailey. I would appreciate receiving a copy of your letters and any subsequent responses so we can document and duplicate the effort with other countries.

Much Love and Light,

Glen Meloy

An Admission And A Distortion About The US Travel Advisory: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

In the following email, Glen Meloy said, "For those of us who helped secure that original travel warning...", once again proving that critics were responsible for the advisory. Glen Meloy blatantly distorted the advisory and had the audacity to say, "SATHYA SAI BABA'S 'INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR' CONFIRMED BY U.S. OFFICIALDOM". The advisory never "confirmed" anything. To the contrary, the advisory specifically stated the reports were "unconfirmed" (Reference):

URGENT NOTIFICATIONS at: http://home.hetnet.nl/~ex_baba/engels/letters/glentoall.html

URGENT NOTIFICATIONS: U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT HAS ISSUED NEW CRIME INFORMATION REGARDING SATHYA SAI BABA. SATHYA SAI BABA'S 'INAPPROPRIATE SEXUAL BEHAVIOUR' CONFIRMED BY U.S. OFFICIALDOM

Dear Concerned Friends, Former and Existing Devotees of Sathya Sai Baba... and to all Organizations involved with the World-Wide Sathya Sai Organizations (SSO) including...

Media Producers
Investigative Reporters
Law Enforcement
Embassies and Consulates
Prime Ministers and Heads of State
Congressional Representatives
All Local & Regional Government Officials
All Persons with Legal and Moral Duty to Report Child Abuse
Those who lease their facilities to SSO Functions

As many of you know, there has been for several years now, an official travel warning notice by the U.S. Department of State that made reference to Crime in the Andhra Pradesh area of India involving media and other reports of inappropriate sexual behavior by a prominent local religious leader on young male devotees, including a number of U.S. citizens.

The original notice also stated that "although these reports are unconfirmed, U.S. citizens should be aware of this information."

For those of us who helped secure that original travel warning and even though his name is still not mentioned, we now know for sure and anyone can confirm that it refers to the inappropriate sexual behavior by Sathya Sai Baba.

The U.S. Consular Information Sheet Crime Information Section for India now for the first time contains a sentence that reads......"U.S. citizens should be aware of this information and contact the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai for further information."

You can read the entire text of the warning at the end of this message along with the referring links so you can check for future updates.

Friends, I am happy to tell you that there is now an office in the U.S. State Department that will verify... that the local religious leader mentioned in the warning notice is definitely the notorious Sathya Sai Baba.

And as you can read below, that information has already been shared and confirmed to the BBC by the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.

Please tell all your contacts this good news and ask your local media to verify that the warning does indeed apply to Sathya Sai Baba and ask them to print and announce the entire warning for their readers.

Many of you know that for almost 30 years now, there has been a huge cover-up of the sexual molestation's being committed by Sathya Sai Baba when he has boys and young men alone in his infamous private interview rooms.

Using the power and authority ascribed to himself as the Supreme God of All Creation, he has been accused of repeated sexual abuses on young males including oral and anal sex, genital oilings, bribing with large amounts of money, promises of schooling and instructing the victims not to tell their parents and where to sit so they can be chosen again and again.

Except for India, the World-Wide Sai Organization is now under the control of an American medical doctor, Michael Goldstein, M.D. from Covina, California.

Goldstein has been directly involved in the world-wide cover-up since 1981; and I will be sending additional material on his disgusting role in perpetuating this huge stain on the many victims and on the Country of India.

For complete and exhaustive references and massive documentation, media reports, resignation letters etc. etc. about the not so secret spiritual sex scandals involving Sathya Sai Baba, please do contact the following very active former devotee global coordinators. All of us will be happy to assist sincere inquiries to make personal contact with victims and other well informed and very helpful former devotees.

Barry Pittard's Bold Faced Lies About The Travel Advisory: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

Barry Pittard (an ex-devotee) purposely and maliciously distorted the US State Dept Advisory on a free press-release website in the following ways:

  1. Pittard purposely withheld the link to the official Consular Sheet for India.
  2. Pittard clearly insinuated that the advisory mentioned Sathya Sai Baba by name when he said:
"The US State Department is now naming India's most famous (and infamous) guru Sathya Sai Baba as the previously unnamed individual mentioned in its earlier Travel Warning."
Sathya Sai Baba's name was never published on the Consular Sheet for India. Rather, one had to allegedly contact John C. Peters and privately verify that the warning pertained to Sathya Sai Baba. Therefore, the warning always referred to an unnamed religious leader.
  3. Pittard attempted to decieve others by mentioning the bogus "Former Devotees of Sathya Sai Baba, a Global Coalition" (FDSSB). Oddly enough, despite FDSSB being a "Global Coalition", it does not even have a proper domain, a written objective, a public forum, an online newsletter, public sponserships, conferencing schedules, collaborations, memberships, a board of directors, FAQ's, annual reports, public events, funding policies or even publications. Rather, Meloy and Pittard attempted to create official-looking webpages claiming that FDSSB had an "Office of Communications" with a "Media Relations Department"! These are the shameless deceivers attempting to "expose" Sathya Sai Baba.
  4. Pittard claimed that the advisory was in relation to "pedophile accusations". No where did the advisory say anything about "pedophile accusations" or even one word about "pedophilia". This shows how Barry Pittard purposely and maliciously distorts information to further his fanatic and obsessive smear campaigns against Sai Baba.
  5. Pittard purposely left out the word "unconfirmed" when he cited the Consular Sheet for India. Pittard quoted the advisory as saying, "inappropriate sexual behavior by a prominent local religious leader". The warning specifically stated "unconfirmed reports of inappropriate sexual behavior by a prominent local religious leader".

The defamatory, embellished and fraudulent article that Barry Pittard submitted to a free press-release website is as follows:

U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT NAMES SATHYA SAI BABA Re PEDOPHILE ACCUSATIONS

India's most famous guru, Sathya Sai Baba, has been named by the U.S. State Department as the subject of its earlier travel warning regarding reports against him of sexual molestation of young males. The warning had stated Sathya Sai Baba's location, but not his name.

Sathya Sai Baba proclaims to be the fullest incarnation of the divine in world history. He has millions of followers, from many countries and cultures, who donate billions to his Central Trust fund. For many years, Presidents, Prime Ministers and elites from many political parties, the armed services, police, judiciary etc have flocked to his ashram in Puttaparthi, South India. Political patronage makes it difficult to secure convictions against him in the courts of India.

There are now State Department citizen and media phone contact numbers where officers will confirm that Sathya Sai Baba is the individual referred to in its earlier travel warning (see details below).

As of May 25, 2004, the U.S. State Department now names the guru it referred to when warning U.S. travellers to the state of Andhra Pradesh to be aware of reports of "inappropriate sexual behavior by a prominent local religious leader" practised on young male devotees, including a number of U.S. citizens. (Consular Information Sheet, November 23, 2001).

The U.S. State Department will verify that the 'local religious leader' mentioned in the earlier warning notice is in fact Sathya Sai Baba. For enquiries other than by the Media, contact:

In Conclusion: RETURN TO TOP OF PAGE

Anti-Sai Activists wage an unremitting smear campaign against Sathya Sai Baba in which they herd together and collectively "e-bomb" various organization and agencies with Anti-Sai propaganda.

Although the general public is fed these highly publicized articles, the behind-the-scenes subterfuge from critics is almost always withheld. Fortunately, Anti-Sai Activists have big mouths and let it slip out that they were the ones behind all the negative media against Sathya Sai Baba. This holds true for the Secret Swami Documentary, Michelle Goldberg's Untouchable article, the Unesco Withdrawal and Paul Lewis' The Guardian article. Ex-Devotees operate behind-the-scenes, feeding untruths, bias, disinformation and unsubstantiated allegations to the media.

To date:

  • Sathya Sai Baba has never been proven to be a "charlatan".
  • Sathya Sai Baba has never been convicted of any crime.
  • Sathya Sai Baba has never been charged with any crime.
  • Sathya Sai Baba has never had even one single complaint lodged against him by any alleged victim, first-hand, in India. As a matter of fact, not even one alleged victim has even tried to file a basic police complaint or court case against Sathya Sai Baba in India (the only place where courts would have jurisdiction over Baba as an individual defendent).

The U.S. Consulate website specifically states that victims of crime should file a report with the police, obtain a FIR (First Information Report) and contact the U.S. Embassy for assistance (Reference: See section: Information For Victims Of Crime). No alleged victim has followed any of these procedures.

Although critics and a few alleged victims make public demands for justice, they have failed to follow even the most remedial prerequisites required by the law. Instead of following the law (as would be required from the rest of us) critics and ex-devotees have created their own forums and websites where they judge, try and convict Sathya Sai Baba with "evidence" taken from mostly anonymous and second-hand sources. It is often seen that critics and ex-devotees publicly anguish on the internet about their "serious ethical duty to rise up and speak out against sexual molestation", yet have miserably failed to file charges in the Penukonda Magistrates Court or any other court of law in India. As the Sai Critic pointed out (with a slight modification):

"Do proceed with haste, with all anguised persons, nay sayers, gossipers and the like. ESPECIALLY do take 'young men from around the world who have come forward to describe their victimization by this man masquerading as God', do instigate and demand investigation, demand the laying of charges, demand the prosecution, with ALL HASTE.

Are you there critics and ex-devotees?

Cease acting as middle men.

Assist those who report complaints with Sai Baba.

Provide tickets.

Get them on a plane.

Fly with them to Bangalore or Hyderabad.

Assist with travel to Penukonda, to the Magistrates Court.

Fulfill your SERIOUS ETHICAL DUTY and lay your charges.

Assist these traumatised others to lay charges in the proper courts.

Then you will have salvaged your conscience and fulfilled your serious ethical duty. We remind you that Sai Baba is not afraid. After all, he has said, "Why be afraid of the mistake you have not committed?"

To date, not even one critic has even tried to assist any alleged victim file a case against Sathya Sai Baba and no one seems to care or question why.
