This article will analyze the amazing and startling claims from alleged sexual-abuse victims that Sathya Sai Baba has the paranormal ability to literally morph and/or transform his male genitals into female ones and vice-versa. Most of these shocking (and quite frankly unbelievable) stories are second-hand claims that wholly and utterly compromise the integrity of those who related them. These incredible "genital switch" stories have festered the preposterous notion that Sathya Sai Baba may be a hermaphrodite or is suffering from hermaphroditism. No matter how these "genital switch" claims are analyzed, very disturbing facts arise that clearly point to gutter fabrications against the revered Indian Guru, Satya Sai Baba.

The Testimony From Alaya Rahm:

Alexandra Nagel wrote a paper entitled "Sai Baba as Shiva-Shakti: a Created Myth? Or?", in which she claimed that she personally interviewed Alaya Rahm (then using the alias "Sam Young") and he specifically told her that he experienced Sathya Sai Baba morphing his genitals on two separate occasions. Nagel said:

"When I told Alaya what I had heard of the two English young men, and asked him if something similar had happened in his case, he informed me that the same 'switch in genitals' had been experienced by him on two different occasions. The specifics were that: a) Alaya first felt nothing, b) Baba had blown on his fingers, and c) on the second touch 'a bulge' was felt, upon which Sai Baba had said, 'See? God is both man and woman'. "

The First-Hand & Anonymous Testimonies Of Keith Ord:

In a Dutch article entitled "De Wonderdoener", written by Piet van der Eijk, Keith Ord personally claimed that Sathya Sai Baba was not a hermaphrodite, but literally morphed his genitals from male to female. Keith Ord said (translated from Dutch):

"Unexpectedly he took my trousers down and he tried to excite me sexually. He took my hand and placed it on his sexual organ. Then I noticed that Sai Baba was ambiguous: he was not half-woman half-man, not a hermaphrodite, no. From one moment to the next, he changed from a man to a woman completely, with the sexual organs of each. Do not ask me how this is possible, but I have experienced it. It must also be a kind of miracle. Obviously Sai Baba lives on another level than ordinary mortals."

Alexandra Nagel repeated Keith Ord's "genital switch" story in her paper "Sai Baba as Shiva-Shakti: a Created Myth? Or?". In this paper, Nagel did not refer to Ord by name but confirmed to me that she was referring to him. Nagel said:

"At a certain moment during the last private interview, Sai Baba had seized my friend's hand and made him touch Baba's groin. The first time this was done a penis was felt through the thin fabric of his robe. (It was not a skin to skin contact.) The second time he was invited to touch, he hadn't felt a penis – there was something there that felt like a vagina."

Hermaphrodite Allegation By Tal Brooke:

Robert Taliaferro Brooke (aka "Tal Brooke") claimed in his book "Lord Of The Air" (later re-named to "Avatar Of The Night") that Sathya Sai Baba is a hermaphrodite based on an alleged story related to him by an unidentified person named "Surya Das" who in turn related a story told to him by another unidentified man named "Patrick" who claimed he had coital (vaginal) sex with Sathya Sai Baba. Because of "Patrick's" alleged story, Tal Brooke perpetuated the idea that Sathya Sai Baba is a hermaphrodite. The only problem with Tal Brooke's story is that none of his alleged witnesses (who have never been identified) have come forward in 30+ years to corroborate his story.

"When Mary Garden, whose testimony was noted earlier, was at the Brindavan ashram in the mid-70s, she was awakened to the allegations about Sai Baba's sexuality by a lady called Joanna serving at a restaurant (Jo-Jo's in Bangalore), where she had already seen thousands of Westerners come to Sai Baba. She told Mary 'Wake up! He's just a hypnotist. Can't you see. He cons Americans for their money... not only that, he is a homosexual. And a hermaphrodite.'"

An Analysis:

Therefore, there are 3 distinct groups of people making allegations against Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba:

This leaves us with 5 possible scenarios:

Scenario 1: Group 1 is telling the truth and Groups 2 & 3 are lying: Meaning that Sathya Sai Baba is a hermaphrodite. This would imply that Groups 2 & 3 did not really see or feel Sathya Sai Baba's genitals as they claimed they did (or else they would have clearly noticed something unusual about his genitals, as it was claimed Baba had a fully-functional vagina).
Scenario 2: Group 2 is telling the truth and Group 3 never experienced the paranormal genital transformation as claimed by Group 2: Meaning that Group 1 is lying because Group 2 stated that Sathya Sai Baba is not a hermaphrodite and that he possesses some sort of paranormal power through which he can literally transform his fully-functional male genitals.
Scenario 3: Group 3 is telling the truth and never experienced the genital transformation like Group 2 allegedly did: Meaning that Group 1 is lying because Group 3 never noticed anything unusual or distorted about Sathya Sai Baba's genitals (although they claimed to see and feel them up close and personal).
Scenario 4: Groups 1, 2 & 3 are all lying: Meaning that Sathya Sai Baba is not a hermaphrodite, cannot transform his genitals and no one saw his genitals as claimed.
Scenario 5: Groups 1, 2 & 3 are all telling the truth: Meaning that Sathya Sai Baba has the paranormal power to change his genitals at will. Group 1 would have seen the transformation after it happened, which would account for the hermaphrodite claim. Group 2 experienced the genital transformation as they claimed they did. Group 3 were never recipients to the genital transformation experience.

In Conclusion:

Clearly, someone is not telling the truth. The big question is: Who is lying? Someone, somewhere, fabricated gutter stories against Sathya Sai Baba. This very disturbing fact proves that the allegations against Satya Sai Baba are based on lies, rumors, gossip and deceit. The only way to resolve these allegations is to accept that all these people are telling the truth and Sathya Sai Baba possesses genuine paranormal powers. Of course, the implications from this would mean that if Sathya Sai Baba truly possesses this kind of paranormal power, he is beyond gender and sexual desire (since he can physically transform his genitals from male to female and vice-versa). Who is willing to accept this scenario? Very few, is my guess.

It is amusing that Anti-Sai Activists fully believe these "genital-switch stories". Critics like Robert Priddy have attempted to argue that the "genital-switch stories" were fake memories created under hyponosis or psychoactive drugs delivered through oil-treatments. Of course, the ramifications of such logic is that if the "genital-switch stories" were fake memories created under hyponosis or psychoactive drugs, then the alleged sexual-abuse stories could have similarly been fake memories created under hypnosis or psychoactive drugs. Needless to say, Ex-Devotees do not question the credibility of such claims and thereby undermine their own crediblity in the process.
