Information About The Mahatala Chakra
In our perception, everything possesses a yin yang of opposites (i.e., Light & Dark, South Pole & North Pole, Spiritual & Material, Superior & Inferior, High & Low, Positive & Negative, Soft & Hard, Heaven & Hell, Hot & Cold, Love & Hate, Feminine & Masculine, Attractive & Repulsive, etc.). A Loka is a luminous, spiritual sphere comparable to Yang. A Tala is a shadow, material sphere comparable to Yin. A Loka and a Tala are two seamless aspects to a specific state of consciousness.
Mahatala’s corresponding loka is Bhuvarloka.
(Theosophy Definition) Mahatala: “Vast netherworld.” Great place, pointing to prevalence or dominance of astral substance; the sixth in the descending scale of the seven talas. The corresponding loka or pole is bhuvarloka. Mahatala among other things corresponds to the elemental beings who are connected with taste, and therefore includes the state of consciousness appertaining to this class. It corresponds in one sense to the pranic activity in man, and in nature to the salamanders and gnomes of the Rosicrucians. Mahatala is the next to the grossest of the cosmic spheres or realms; the grossest or most material of all being patala.

Next is the most renowned Mahatala. The sons of Kadru, the very angry Snakes, live here. They are many headed. O Vipra! I now mention to you the names of the famous amongst them : Kuhaka, Taksaka, Susena, and Kaliya. These all have very wide hoods and they all are very strong; they all are of cruel temper. Their kinsmen also are so. They are always afraid of Garuda, the King of birds. Surrounded with their sons, wives, friends and acquaintances, they live happily, well skilled in various sports and pleasures.
