Om Sri Sai Ram,

It is extremely painful and sad to witness this concerted smear campaign and character assassination, of our beloved Avatar Sri Sathya Sai Baba. The common denominator for all these people are ignorance and fear, which leads to fanaticism, envy, hate and a whole array of negative human traits. We all should feel pity and compassion for all these poor souls.

Obviously, I do too get very upset at all these allegations and attacks, thinking about the negative effects it could have on the unaware population. But my faith and belief in His Divinity gives me hope, He will reveal the truth in the hearts of all who are prepared to receive His Message.

Sathya (truth) shall prevail!

Thank you so much for standing up and defending our beloved Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and His Divine Message. You are the finest of soldiers!
May God bless you.

Dear Mr. Moreno, thank you and God bless for the wonderful work you are doing with the website.

I was a student in Swami's school for many years, and I wanted to corroborate something that an earlier guestbook author named Srinivas wrote:

I saw the list of approx. 155 ex-students a few months ago, and was shocked to see that I recognized a great majority of those names, as they are contemporaries from my time at Swami's school, and I still keep in close touch with many of them.

Needless to say, everyone I spoke with was shocked to hear about the website, and had no idea of its existence. They all vehemently denied any involvement with the site or its authors, and were enraged beyond words. In the end, they decided to follow Swami's example and not react. Our guess is that ex-baba found those names on some database of student names and without bothering about the truth, just listed them on the site.

This is yet another example of how the Anti-Sai hate group engages in outright deception with a complete and utter disregard for truth, and is so willing to engage in libel and slander and harm people's lives.

All we can do is pray that Swami have mercy on their souls, because they're in for many, many lifetimes of suffering. Let us not waste our righteous anger on them, but show them compassion and forgiveness.

SRI SATHYA SAI BABA

A LIVING LEGEND

AN EMBODIMENT OF LOVE FOR ALL MANKIND

We are deeply pained and anguished by the wild, reckless and concocted allegations made by certain vested interests and people against Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. We would normally expect that responsible media would ascertain the true facts before printing such calumny - especially when the person is revered globally as an embodiment of love and selfless service to humanity. Since this professional ethic has not been observed by a section of the media, we have elected to go public with this signed statement.

We are among several million people in the world who regard Sri Sathya Baba as a great spiritual master and teacher. We come from different nationalities and religions and greatly admire the fact that Sathya Sai Baba asks us to become a true follower of our chosen path. His is a message of truth, right conduct, love, peace and non-violence. He always emphasizes that these universal human values belong to all faiths and religious traditions.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba leads by example. he devotes all his time and energy for the well being of society. People from all walks of life and from all parts of world visit him in Prasanthi Nilayam (Andhra Pradesh, India). He meets them and showers his love and blessings on all those who seek him. He has been the sole inspiration behind some of the most monumental public service projects in recent times. He has set up schools, colleges and universities where finest qualify man-making education is imparted to all at no cost. His educational program of universal human values is being used by thousands of educational institutions all over the world. He has set up hospitals where complex surgical interventions are performed everyday without any cost to the patients. He has set up a mammoth clean drinking water network in drought-prone areas. Indeed the list of activities and projects inspired by him continues to grow with new projects being undertaken in all parts of the world.

We have had the privilege of meeting Sri Sathya Sai Baba many times and seeing him engage ceaselessly in community service projects.

We unequivocally condemn the baseless and malicious allegations being hurled upon Sathya Sai Baba in certain quarters. Great men have often faced slander in their lives. Such pitiful efforts neither diminish their glory nor slow down their resolve to achieve their mission.

May God give good sense to all who create these scurrilous stories and wisdom to all others not to pay any heed to them.

This game of Sai amazes me. He is here on Earth in full-incarnation, yet He has so many part incarnations, such as humans, who are against His own self. And He all He says is "believe in Me" as if He is filtering all and only keeping those with FULL BELIEF in Him.

Wonderful work. Keep it up. May Sai Bless You.

A Friend in India to All the World
By KEITH BRADSHER

PUTTAPARTHY, India — The president of India, who is best known for overseeing India's nuclear tests in 1998, recently paid a state visit to the country's largest ashram, to meet and receive the blessings of a holy man who preaches nonviolence.

The visit underlined the appeal of the unusual holy man, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who draws presidents, prime ministers and other leaders not only from India but also from outside it; altogether he claims followers in 178 countries.

The separation between state and religion in India, clear and bright in the years immediately after Indian independence in 1947, has grown less distinct. That is especially true with the political ascendancy of the governing Bharatiya Janata Party, which emphasizes Hindu nationalism.

Part of the appeal of the Baba, as he is called by followers and others here, is that ever since the 1940's he has been preaching an unusual mixture of faiths and encouraging religious tolerance.

Official visits here have become one of the odder features of Indian public life, and among the most colorful. The Baba's mixture of religions extends far beyond traditional Hindu beliefs, and that lets him attract politicians of various faiths, including Muslims like President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam of India.

President Kalam, a former nuclear scientist, flew to the ashram's private airport here in southern India on a blue-and-white air force jet. Saluted by olive-clad police officers, he climbed into the lead car of a motorcade, and Sikh military aides in scarlet turbans followed suit.

Lining the road to the ashram were stone tablets inscribed with the swami's utterances. "Money comes and money goes/Morality comes and grows," read one sign in English, signed simply Baba, meaning divine father.

On a hillside at the ashram's entrance stood enormous, brightly painted statues of Jesus, Buddha and Hanuman, an Indian monkey god. Farther on was a large Chinese temple and a big billboard of a benevolently smiling Baba, his hand raised in blessing.

Two-story modern buildings in fuchsia lined the paved avenue, incongruously interspersed with 30-foot-tall statues of acoustic guitars and wooden drums. The clunky Indian-made Ambassador cars chugged past them and pulled to a halt in front of the great hall of the ashram.

More than 10,000 closely packed acolytes sat cross-legged on the floor, the women in saris of brilliant emerald, ruby and indigo silk, the men in white short-sleeve shirts and white trousers, symbolizing purity.

President Kalam deferentially slipped off his brown loafers and walked in stocking feet to the front of the hall, followed by a small entourage, whose members had also tucked their shoes under flowering bushes outside. The Baba, 76, a short man with a thick mane of black hair, shuffled forward in his robe.

Acolytes discreetly angled for the Baba's notice; one of the few Westerners nearby, a middle-aged man also sitting cross-legged, clapped his hand to his heart and wobbled visibly with emotion when the Baba appeared to wave in his direction.

Famous for seldom saying much in public even to his followers, the Baba silently greeted President Kalam. The two men disappeared through polished wood doors decorated with reliefs of Hindu gods and into the Baba's inner sanctum, where they remained a quarter of an hour while the crowd waited quietly.

A senior aide to the Baba whispered that the spiritual leader's full name, Sri Sathya Sai Baba, signified holy, truth, divine mother and divine father.

Preaching the five principles of truth, peace, love, nonviolence and right conduct, the Baba "represents unity of religion, all religions," not just Hinduism, the aide said.

The president emerged and led his entourage out of the great hall, putting on his shoes and hopping back in a car for a short drive to the ashram's guesthouse. In a brief interview there, he said he had discussed with the swami how to achieve an educational system that combined values with science.

"When they are fused, you get an enlightened citizen," said President Kalam, whose role is mostly ceremonial in this parliamentary democracy; the Parliament elected him in July.

Coming from a Muslim background, the president is a rarity among national politicians in a country that is four-fifths Hindu. He has long contended that India's nuclear weapons program is necessary to keep the peace in the region, and he does not represent warlike intentions.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, the chief minister, or governor, of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh here, said the Baba was not just a holy man but a public policy expert. Mr. Naidu described repeatedly seeking the swami's advice while turning Hyderabad, the state capital of Andhra Pradesh, into a high-tech center where American companies like Microsoft and Oracle now employ thousands of computer programmers.

Using donations from around the world, the Baba has built two hospitals near here that provide free care to the poor. He is now spending $50 million to build systems for drinking water and irrigation, Mr. Naidu said.

But for all the swami's interest in technology, he refuses to use e-mail, or even pick up a telephone. "He won't correspond with anybody, he won't use phones either," the chief minister said with a faint hint of irritation. "Everyone has to come here."

Sai Baba's concern for quality education and medicare is a positive input for nation building.

At the other end of the spectrum is the violently vociferous lobby of local rationalists (convinced that Sai Baba is a confidence trickster) and international apostate disciples (who paint Sai Baba as the Anti-Christ). To add to the chagrin of these voluble detractors, who have criticised his career in print and on the Internet with malicious intensity for at least a generation, is the ongoing booming growth of his mission. The more they rail against the saint, the greater, it seems, is the number of people who flock to have his darshan.

The critics are so intemperate in their dislike that their vituperation now comes across as almost near comical in its predictability. Nothing Baba can say or do meets their approval. If he provides drinking water to thirsty villagers they scent a scam but if he doesn’t provide drinking water he is anti-poor. The ground reality is that even Naxalites have welcomed Baba’s charitable intervention, recognising in him a fellow son of the Andhra soil. Often the impression given is that the vilifiers do not hate Sai Baba as much as they harbour contempt for the religious feelings of ordinary cultivators, whose devotion has made Sathya Sai what he is.

Probably because of the intensity of their hate, when it comes to a serious, forensic examination of their allegations, they resort to bluster and evasion instead of hard facts. Smearing sexual innuendo is a traditional ploy but on failing to substantiate their charges, the critics switch to another unrelated subject.

They will claim that all of Sathya Sai Baba’s materialisations are phoney. However, this cannot stick either, because millions have witnessed the outpouring of vibhuti at Shivaratri. So then, financial irregularities are imputed to the saint, and when these are likewise found to be unproductive of scandal, mafia happenings are invoked. (As a longtime observer of ashrams, I always note how Puttaparthi is exceptional in not making any monetary demands on the visitor.)

The strategy of the critics seems to be that if sufficient mud is thrown, some might stick. This hit and run behaviour suggests a neurotic concern to damn by any possible means. Certain foreign evangelical missions invest in these hate campaigns as a godly task while in international forums, pressure on voting patterns is discreetly applied by lobbyists of rival religions, to further their own cause.

The latest in these so called exposes is a BBC documentary whose agenda was so predetermined to denigrate Baba that it stooped to the unethical use of a spy camera. In a last farcical gesture, the producer hired some roadside entertainers to attempt to simulate Baba’s chamatkar. The result is so ludicrous that it leaves the viewer wondering as to who is funding this bizarre display of hostile reporting. The BBC is ultimately governed by the Anglican establishment, and churches in the west are losing out financially to the appeal of the Sai Baba movement.

As a commercial broadcaster, the BBC’s opting for sleaze would have the dual advantage of discrediting a rival as well as getting good audience rating. The Church of England can have no objection to programmes that weaken perceived threats—like the papacy or Hindu holy men—to its (declining) influence in the world. Posing as a lion in Asia, the BBC is a mouse in Britain. It dare not criticise public icons like the Queen, who happens to be the supremo of the Anglican church.

Even negative assessments of the Sai movement have to concede that its growth has been phenomenal and that, remarkably, there has been no missionary effort involved. It has increased by spontaneous identification, where individuals have been drawn to the persona and teachings of the Sai saints, a voluntary outpouring of faith that has occurred in an amazingly short period.

In appealing to the core of spirit that lies beneath the surface of all religions, the Deccan saints have not only made a dent in the fragmentary nature of the subcontinental religious loyalties but also restored the classical Upanishadic insight of the oneness of all faiths.

This augurs well with the Indian democracy’s need to get beyond religious labels that have stultified its development since Independence. Baba’s concern for quality education and medical care is another positive input for nation building. The success of his peninsula drinking water network has proved that for efficient development, the crucial ingredient is sincerity of purpose.

Hi there,

I have followed your website with much interest. I appreciate your effort in counter-pointing the individuals and organizations that have made such bogus and false allegations against Swami.

I have a lot to say about the people that have put negative light on Babaji before public. But this is only a guestbook so I will limit my comments.

First, I feel Islam, Christianity and Judaism in equal degree have LOST out on Babaji en masse. The majority of people coming to see Babaji are Indian and of Hindu background.

On top of that, the educated masses of India still have no idea what Babaji has done for them over 150 + years.

The coming years will have to see the following events : Christians from the main denom.s and Catholics putting up a nice Babaji pic next to Jesus in their homes, Muslims doing a de-tour from Medina to Shirdi to Prashanti, Jews doing better than having photos taken at the Wailing wall, and building bridges to India.

An even better spiritual conquest for Babaji will be Chinese peoples coming to Him.

Keep up the good work -

After three years and thousands of hours of research into the issues, I have come to the conclusion that the allegations against Sai Baba are more than highly suspicious to say the very least. None of the accusers have ever even tried to file charges in India as required by law. Instead they have played judge, jury and sentencer over the internet. They have contradicted themselves and changed their stories and have absolutely no corroborating witnesses or evidence. They have lied about signing legal affidavits which were notarized. It appears they have lied about Hari Sampath's supposed trip to the Supreme Court of India on May 8, 2001, which is not listed anywhere on the Supreme Court website. Almost all accusers were grown men (foreigners) whom it appears the anti-Sai group used to try and create the illusion they were "children" who had been sexually abused when, in fact suspiciously, they were adults-some as old as 30 years! Almost all cases are now past the eight year Indian statute of limitations. Most of those pushing the allegations have hidden agendas such as being evangelical Christians, Catholics, anti-Semites and/or white supremacists or atheists! There are even wanted criminals in the group of detractors, including an evangelical Christian who runs a website from the Netherlands and is wanted in California for failing to register as a sex offender after spending six months in prison! If anyone should be investigated, it should be the hate group stalking Sathya Sai Baba. And HOW many times will it have to be explained to the democratically, ethically and mentally challenged anti-Sai group that NO investigation is launched into any crime in ANY country UNLESS there is an actual victim, willing to take legal responsibility, who FILES FORMAL charges in the COUNTRY where the crime was committed? For some strange reason Robert Priddy, et al, seem to have great difficulty understanding this VERY simple concept of the presumption of innnocence but would rather continue to demonize the Indian government in their blatant and extremely deceptive propaganda campaign. Saisathyasai.com has done an excellent job documenting this deception. The simple FACT is that not ONE of the alleged victims has filed charges in India. Not one of them EVEN tried to file charges! This nonaction is VERY suspicious in itself. But you cannot get the anti-Sais to understand this because they live in a fantasy world where they think they can make up the rules as they go.

Joe, I wanted to share a beautiful, true and inspirational story with you and others. I came across one of those negative sites that oppose Swami. It very much disturbed me. The negativity was suffocating and it hurt me deeply inside. Before I went to bed, I prayed to Swami and concluded my prayers, as I usually do, with Saint Francis' universal prayer of love...

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much
seek to be consoled as to console,
not so much to be understood as to understand,
not so much to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
it is in dying that we awake to eternal life."

Last night, I had a dream where I was talking to a group of devotees about Swami and for some reason, I could not refer to him as "SRI Sathya Sai Baba". I kept saying "SAI Sathya Sai Baba". No matter how hard I tried, I kept saying "SAI Sathya Sai Baba"! Today, I decided to search for something about "SAI Sathya Sai Baba" and there was you site, SAI SATHYA SAI! As I read your site, I got goosebumps and was overcome with great happiness. Your site completely erased the pain that was in my heart from reading that negative article against our Beloved Lord! Thank You Sai Sathya Sai Baba!

Hi Joe

I have been going through the contents on your website and your ongoing arguments with Premanand.

It's a great job you are doing. While you have highligted the contradictions that the ASS teams have put out, I am going to list out a few, that perhaps escaped your attention. I am aware of these as I was a student at Swami's college.

a) Premanand mentions about a student of Eswaramma HIgh School who disappeared after coming into possession of two film rolls. Unlike what BP claims, Eswaramma High School is not run by Swami or the Trust. It is a school that Swami has donated to the village and it is a Govt run school. Secondly, it is a day school and does not have a hostel attached to it. All of Swami's educational institutions are boarding schools with hostels attached. So there is no question of the so called warden and watchman of SSB having found Ramu with the films as no one connected with the Sai system enters that school.

b) In the various write-ups about the murders in June 93, it has been mentioned that MBA students had tied up the assailants and then beat them up.

It has been mentioned that MBA students live in a complex opposite Swami's Mandir. This is wrong as all MBA students live in the hostel (which is about 1 km away from the Ashram) - this is mandatory. Of course, old students (students who have passed out) live in the Ashram in buildings close to the Mandir. But then, these are not all MBA students.

There is a mention that 60 MBA students were involved in the attack of the assailants. Firstly, there are no 60 MBA students. MBA is a 2 year course and there are about 30 students in each class - that would sum upto 60. However, at the time when the attack took place, the students of 1st yr MBA were in Bangalore (which is about 200 km away) doing their project work (again mandatory).

So it is really surprising (or is it??) in all that confusion that was happening in the Mandir, people were not only able to identify the MBA students, but also count them.

c) On the list of 155 students that is published on Exbaba.com. There is no mention of who published that list and what the authenticity is. And as to BP's continuous claims that the students who are listed there did not deny and therefore the list may be true I am not sure how many are even aware of the existence of such a website. I came to know of this only after a friend of mine sent me the website address expressing concern about what is being written about Swami (though he is not a believer himself).

The logic that since Swami and the Trust do not respond to these allegations implies that something is really wrong is moronic. Swami, Himself, has said that He does not want to waste His time on these issues as they are only a distraction. If the Trust decides to files cases after everyone who is making such allegations, then it would spend the rest of its time and resources in courts.

Keep up the good work. Though sometimes I feel, it is not worth the effort. These chaps could not make a dent in the last so many years and are destined to fade away into anonymity.

Sairam.

I heard about these allegations when they first vocalized it publicly, but I never cared and they never changed my opinion and my belief in Swami. In fact, I think or I feel my faith has become stronger. Just a couple of days ago, I wanted to read about those allegation out of curiosity and that's how I came across your website. I remember thinking that it's all His divine plan to all of this to happen and soon it will all be over when the time is right. I am really happy to see a site like this to support Him... I should rephrase that... to support His followers. He doesn't need any one of us. We need Him and it is an honor if He chooses us to be His instrument. I am really happy Joe. Thank you!

Hi All,
I was reading most of the articles in this site for a few days. I am really happy to see such a website. At this point of time, I need to tell you all one incident that took place in my life. I have read about Exbaba.com/Saiguru.net etc... some years back. To be exact in july 2003. After reading those articles, I was so confused and I was not able to concentrate on anything. I have been a Sai devotee from my childhood and I was not able to judge, which is right and which is wrong. I was in that confused state for 3 days. I mentally prayed to Swami that I cannot continue like that anymore and I want Swami to show my the right direction. Usually whenever, I am not sure, what to decide, I will just pray to swami and ask him to show the right thing. Then I will go near my small library, where I have a couple of sai books and close my eyes and take one book randomly and then open a page in that book. Whatever is written in that page, will definately have an answer for my question. In the same manner, even on that day, I did the same thing. I closed my eyes and took one book. Then I opened a page in that book. YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE. THAT PAGE WAS STARTING OF A CHAPTER. THE CHAPTER IS TITLED "ITS ALL MAYA". Tears started flowing from my eyes instantly, after just reading the chapter name. Then I just turned the book, to see what book is that. Its "ESWARAMMA - the chosen mother" by Shri N.Kasturi. So thats the message. I hope its not just for me, its for all of us. SWAMI wants such Maya to happen, so that only the fortunate ones enjoy his bliss.

Regard,
Madhavan

Although I remain entirely skeptical about Bhagavan Sri Satya Sai Baba, I must make mention that my opinion has changed regarding the Secret Swami Programme that aired on the BBC in the United Kingdom.

I was horrified when I read the germane information about "Alaya Rahm" on your site, believing the programme was thoroughly researched and convincing.

Who are these pusillanimous scalawags and yobbos deceiving us with mirrors, vapors and smoke? This hautteur is astonishing, stupefying and unprincipled.

Pax vobiscum,

Charles

Swami says that Prema is the way to TRUTH. Those who hate can never know Truth. When I read the stories of Swami sexually hurting boys, my heart was tormented by so many doubts and feelings..It was like a fire. but the hateful nature to those sites showed me that the TRUTH was not being fully told. When I first saw your site, I thought it was another hateful site against Swami. I now realise that there are so many lies and so much hatred, I cannot believe what I read anymore. I rely on my heart and my experiences. Iknow that Swami is true and would never do anything to hurt anyone. That is my TRUTH, born from my Prema for Swami. I can not deny this Truth and I am grateful to God for your efforts to uncover IT. Thank you.

I found this page about a week ago while looking for pictures of Sathya Sai Baba and could not believe my eyes! Who knew that these people "anti sais" were so horrible?

Here in Singapore, Sathya Sai Baba is loved very much and you do not hear such awful rumors. You hear only beauty, goodness, miracles, seva and happiness. I am grateful you have shown the true colors to these "anti sais".

Love, Shigeru

Thank you sir for exposing Premanand. His work is translated into various languages and broadcast on stations all over India. I do not believe him because he is mean-hearted fellow. God bless you.

Thank You Joe!!!

I have been searching for a site that gives a more comprehensive view about the evidence against Swami and I found it!

All I can say is it's about time!

i dont know what people get by giving false and ugly statements well its up to each individual to believe in baba, and about me no evil stories or document can change my mind if baba wasnt a god we would not have felt his miracles here in this island, you wont believe amrit was flowing from one of his pictures , each time people sang bhajans flowers shake and fall from his photo and to me he is lord , i have not been to india but alot of my relatives did including small boys but nothing of these sorts of things we heard its a biggest shame that people,make-up stories about 70 year old well its up to them but we devotees will remain devotees and pray to him..
